Welding is one of the most critical operations in vessel construction. This is particularly true in aluminium shipbuilding and the reason why we, as Nautic, have invested significant resources in developing the welding talent and expertise within our company.
To guarantee the quality and longevity of our vessel structures, our artisans are continuously assessed and trained to ensure their qualifications and skills meet the highest industry standards. Furthermore, all new artisans are required to undergo an intensive two-week training programme to teach them the finer art of aluminium welding and how to use our state-of-the-art welding equipment to achieve our exacting standards.
No artisan is allowed to weld on any vessel unless they have mastered international welding procedures and standards (such as ASME) and received their Nautic welding ‘passport’.
And, as important as the quality of our workmanship, is giving our artisans the opportunity to grow within our company which is why we are delighted to announce the appointment of Elroy Hendricks to the position of welding training instructor.
Elroy has many years’ experience in shipbuilding and welding and this, together with his passion for youth development and excellence, makes him the ideal candidate to lead our welding training programme.
